Introduction This is a one-day course designed for crane operators and would be competent persons involved with inspection/examinations of in-service wire rope. The course relevant legislation with respect to wire ropes and all aspects of wire rope examination in detail.
Content The course will cover the following subjects in some depth: • UK legislation, BS 302, LOLER • Health & Safety at Work, • PUWER, EC Directives • Types of lay and their usage. • Equipment used during inspection • Basic examination/inspection • Terminations, Anchors • Rejection criteria, Reasons, Causes. • Lubrication Associated drums, sheaves, etc. • Critical areas for examination • On-site practical examination of in-service ropes • In-service wear, corrosion, abrasion, etc. Discard criteria • Factors of safety • Test Paper and Practical assessment of candidate.
Clothing: For the practical period of this course all candidates are required to provide their own protective clothing i.e. hardhat, safety boots, coveralls, gloves, etc
Associated Courses This course is closely allied to, and forms part of our two day lifting gear examiners course. Certification An Enermech Certificate will be issued on successful completion of the course. |
