| Introduction Operators will be assessed performing various practical exercises and/or observed carrying out normal offshore crane operations. The operator will also be assessed carrying out various routine crane maintenance operations. Assessment will be carried out in accordance with the requirements of British Standard 7121 Part II. Assessment will concentrate on the safe operation of the crane. Guidance will be given to the operator where / when necessary. Intended for: Existing crane operators requiring two-yearly assessment in accordance with BS 7172 Part II and/or the further progression of trainee crane operators. Assessment Duration Usually one day for experienced crane operators, trainee operator’s dependent on inherent skills and tuition required.
Assessment Content - Assessment of crane operating skills and knowledge of crane operating parameters.
- Assessment of competency and compliance with quality standards.
- If required to operate more that one type of crane on the installation, assessment of operator competency for each type of crane that he is required to operate.
- Having undergone a competency assessment, either:
(a) Confirm crane operator’s competency, or (b) Agree with the operator and his employers a programme of crane operation, under the supervision of an installation senior crane operator, in order that the trainee might gain experience and improve his operational skills. - Arrange for re-assessment of crane operator’s
practical performance.
Reassessment To comply with BS 7121 Part II - Offshore Crane Operators must undergo a competency assessment every two years.
Certification An Enermech Certificate will be issued on successful completion of the course. |
