Introduction

Operators will be trained in the safe use of a gantry crane and associated lifting accessories.  Training will include:

•    Relevant PUWER & LOLER information
•    Approved Codes of Practice (ACOPS)
•    Organisation of Lifting Ops, Planning the lift
•    Lifting equipment selection
•    Pre-use inspection of all equipment to be used.
•    Checking equipment ID, SWL, Colour Code
•    Preparation
•    Safe Usage
•    Lifting/lowering/traveling techniques
•    After use checks

Various practical exercises will be carried out and an assessment of competence will be made.Further guidance will be given to the operator where / when necessary.

Intended for:  

  
Trainee gantry crane operators and existing crane operators who may not have received any formal training.

Assessment Duration

Usually one day for experienced crane operators, trainee operator’s dependent on inherent skills and tuition required.

Certification
